Who are we?
We are a private, high-powered team of senior prosecutors and civil fraud litigators with an unrivalled track record in conducting major prosecutions/litigation. We are uniquely designed to support individuals as well as corporate victims of crime.
We are the first and only specialist firm of private prosecutors. We have a unique and highly specialised skillset to pursue fraudsters. We are a team of lawyers with criminal and civil expertise who fearlessly uphold the rights of corporate or individual victims of crime; we use modern, innovative solutions along with traditional methods of investigation to flexibly and expertly combat crime.
We are kind, friendly and gregarious. We are a diverse but close group of people who are personable but professional. We enjoy our work and are passionate about our values and upholding the rights of victims.
Who are you?
You will possess the desire, ability and hunger to be a truly exceptional lawyer. You will be passionate and energetic about upholding the rights of victims of crime and courageous in pursuing those responsible. You will be forward thinking, innovative and adaptable. You will be willing to learn and be motivated to succeed. A life as a prosecutor is not for the faint hearted.
You will be intellectually bright and you must understand the need to conduct yourselves as if you were acting on behalf of the state, in a professional and principled way.
Being a small dynamic firm, you will be expected to network and promote the EMM brand. You will act on your own initiative and be a problem solver. With autonomy comes great responsibility and you’ll have to be comfortable with that.
What are we proud of?
We are proud of what we stand for – being the best at helping victims of crime to achieve justice.
We are the first specialist private prosecution law firm, and in only our second year, we won “Boutique Law Firm of the Year – City” at the prestigious The Lawyer Awards. We have been ranked as a tier two white collar crime firm in the Legal500 alongside some of the world’s leading law firms, as well as being ranked as specialists in contentious trusts and probate litigation.
Robert Hunter’s prominence and expertise in civil fraud caused Chambers & Partners to rank him in a category of his own as ‘Star Individual’, above many of the city and the world’s leading lawyers.
We are motivated by and pride ourselves on searching for the truth and acting with integrity, in order to present reliable evidence to the court to achieve a fair and just outcome. Our position is neatly encapsulated by the expression that the prosecution enjoys no victories and suffers no defeats.
What do we do?
We commonly act in the most serious and high profile criminal and civil litigation case both here and overseas. We have particular experience in the private prosecution of those accused of fraud, corporate dishonesty and financial crime and we dismantle the production and circulation of counterfeit goods in criminal organisations.
In 2016, we supplemented our fraud team with leading civil fraud and trust litigators. We can now advise clients on the best means of retrieving assets in frauds that are linked to the United Kingdom, whether by civil asset retrieval or criminal compensation order.
