Mai Holdom - Senior Associate

Mai Holdom made a welcome return to Edmonds Marshall McMahon in March 2024, taking on the role of Senior Associate. Her expertise spans both criminal and civil law, with a particular focus on areas such as Bribery & Corruption, fraud, asset tracing, applications under the Proceeds of Crime Act, analysis of complex banking and financial records, and Norwich Pharmacal orders.

Mai’s current responsibilities are centred around a significant fraud case being prosecuted in the Crown Court. She plays a leading role in conducting asset tracing investigations and related legal actions under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. Her work has included the international restraint of assets and coordinating with law enforcement agencies abroad to initiate contempt proceedings, ensuring these restraints remain effective.

Her legal journey began with her admission as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Queensland in November 2017, following her graduation from the University of Queensland, where she earned a Bachelor of Laws with honours and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. Mai further honed her legal skills by completing a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the Australian National University in 2017. Before her initial tenure at EMM, Mai gained valuable experience as an Associate to His Honour Judge Reid of the Queensland District Court and as a paralegal within the Queensland Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Following a distinguished period as a Principal Lawyer at the Serious Fraud Office, Mai’s return to EMM brings her invaluable experience and insight back to enhance the firm’s capacity to handle complex legal matters.
