Monique Iginla - Trainee Solicitor

Monique joined Edmonds Marshall McMahon in May 2022 as a Paralegal following her graduation with a BA in Politics from Queen Mary University of London and the completion of the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law.

Her prior roles include working as a Fees Clerk at Matrix Chambers and 7BR, where she developed her skills in billing high-profile legal cases. Additionally, Monique has dedicated her time to volunteering with the Shannon Trust, an organisation committed to teaching literacy skills in prisons across the UK.

Promoted to Senior Paralegal at the close of 2023, Monique has now progressed to the role of Trainee Solicitor. Monique is currently undertaking her Solicitors Qualifying Examinations, passing SQE1 in July 2024.

Monique has responsibility for overseeing client matters at the firm, liaising directly with clients on cases concerning intellectual property, theft and other significant legal challenges.

Her expertise centres on criminal private prosecutions, involving substantial responsibilities such as drafting pivotal legal documents, managing complex cases, undertaking large disclosure exercises and making detailed submissions and representations to the court and Criminal Cases Unit.

Monique also contributes to the civil litigation team, focusing on fraud and litigation issues and assists the firm’s pro-bono efforts in a legal clinic that offers counsel to victims of cybercrime.

Monique’s role is integral in coordinating the paralegal team, ensuring effective case management, and representing clients’ interests across various legal forums.
