Sophie is experienced in criminal litigation, having worked in New Zealand for four years as both a criminal prosecutor for the Crown, and prior to that, as a criminal defence lawyer for a boutique firm.
Sophie is experienced managing a busy caseload of a wide range of criminal cases, involving dishonesty and property damage, as well as serious violence and property offences such as burglary and robbery.
Sophie regularly appeared in the New Zealand District and High Court for bail hearings, pre-trial hearings, jury trials and sentencings, and frequently appeared on behalf of Government entities on a range of prosecutions both criminal and civil in nature while working at the Crown. She has experience drafting submissions and other legal documents on a variety of legal matters.
Sophie was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2019, after graduating from the University of Otago, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology).
