Tamlyn, a co-founder and Managing Partner at Edmonds Marshall McMahon, brings her expertise to the forefront of serious fraud, cybercrime, asset recovery, cross-border fraud, corruption, and intellectual property crime. Her client base predominantly includes corporates, high-net-worth individuals, non-governmental organisations, specialist fraud investigators, as well as luxury brands.
Tamlyn’s proficiency extends to restraint and confiscation matters, highlighted by her leading the financial investigation and confiscation in the case of R v Somaia (2016), achieving the largest confiscation order (£21 million) ever to be awarded in a private prosecution.
Her expertise also encompasses extradition matters, both within and outside the EU.
Having been called to the Bar in 2000, Tamlyn is a seasoned prosecutor with an extensive background. Before establishing Edmonds Marshall McMahon, she led the specialist team of prosecutors at the Department of Health, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), earning an exceptional reputation.
Notably, she was lead lawyer in the case of R v Gillespie and others (2011), the most substantial case of counterfeit medicines prosecuted by the Department of Health, which involved the penetration of counterfeit, prescription-only, life-saving medicines into the UK’s legitimate supply chain, triggering an unprecedented Class 1 recall by the MHRA.
Clients highly regard Tamlyn for her profound understanding of criminal law and procedures, alongside her innovative strategies to secure the best outcome. She is celebrated for her “constant commitment, creativity, and professionalism” that consistently earns admiration.
In 2019, she was appointed to the Advisory Committee for the Fraud Advisory Panel, offering strategic insights and challenges to its main board. She also acts as a Senior Advisor to Spotlight on Corruption.
Her achievements in the realm of private prosecution were acknowledged in 2016 when she was named “Boutique Lawyer of the Year” by the Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards.
Tamlyn regularly shares her knowledge at The Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime and the annual conference for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, focusing on private prosecutions and asset tracing.
Her insights are often featured in national media and she has recently discussed the surge in private prosecutions for fraud and cybercrime issues on various BBC Radio programmes, including File on 4 and The Inquiry.
Her case, R v Kulich was recently featured in Oliver Bullough’s book, Butler to World in which Tamlyn provides her insights into the case.
